The 2009/10 season is nearly upon us! With this in mind I would like you to put TUESDAY 8th SEPTEMBER in your diaries as the first evening at Bournside School for our Winter Training…. (hopefully it won’t quite feel like winter at this point!)

At the August Committee Meeting the structure for the training sessions will be being put into place. There are many items to be discussed around this issue and we will ensure that we take all aspects into consideration to come up with the best solutions that we can. With this in mind if you would like put forward any positive solutions to any problems that you feel lie with the training structure could you please email me on lhchockey@live.co.uk before Tuesday 4th August so that I can take these to the table.

I will be posting the training structure here on the website after the meeting.

During the summer there will be fitness training taking place on the Monday nights that the men’s first team aren’t playing in the Newent league. This means that up until the end of August there will be fitness training every Monday (apart from the 22/06/09, 29/06/09, 06/07/09 and the 13/07/09).

All are welcome (anyone who has played for a senior side would be suitable to attend) The training will take place at the park which is on the corner, of the roundabout which joins the Shurdington Road and Upper Hatherley Way.
A map showing the location is below.

Training will probably take the form of a game of either football or touch rugby with some specific fitness work thrown in as well. Each session will start at 6.30pm and will run until 8.00pm ish.

There is currently mixed hockey taking place on Tuesday and Thursday nights being organised by Jon Thompson. If you are interested in playing and are not yet doing so please email lansdownhockey@gmail.com.

Hockey training will start on the Tuesday the 11th of August and will take place at Pates between 7pm and 8pm. This will run for four weeks after this training will start at Bournside.

Dear all,
We will be entering at least 1 team into the Gloucester Summer League again this year. I believe that it will follow the same format as last year, where it will start with mixed teams for the first part of the summer and then move into ladies and mens teams. I am assuming that the matches will be on Tues and Weds evenings but we will not be sure of this until we receive further information.
If you are interested in taking part please could you contact Jon Thompson on jt243 at fsmail.net or 07793 681046.

It’s in a similar format to the last 2 years so people should have got the hang of it by now!
I have printed out enough for each team,  you are welcome to print them off
or…. I can drop them off to people towards the end of the week before ours matches on Sat
or….. I will be at Bournside from about 1pm onwards so you could pick them up from me there??

I think that I have managed to put all of the information that you will need on the invite but if you have any questions just let me know…..

To all players,

Please could YOU contact your captain or coach to find out weather training will be on on each Tuesday.

Obviously due to the cold weather conditions the decision will be made on the day and depend on the pitch condition more than anything else.

Any problems contacting someone to find out you can also call me on 07855 320414 (if I can’t answer I will get back to you as soon as possible)

Thanks

Lions vs Sherborne A Monday, September 29, 2008

under a blazing mid-day sun Lansdown opened their league season…

Lans got on top and “Monster” Mash Patel smashed the ball into the roof of the net for 1-0, but Sherborne  came back to lead at the break finding alarming holes in our defence for two open play goals..

after taking on board gallons of fluid and the rousing words of capt Blazey, Lansdown again started 2nd half well, Big Matt Welbone went up front and thumped in Ross Mays pass almost from the restart, then George Bence was denied by a diving keeper and Monster set up DP to go just wide

The youngsters all took turns in various positions and all did well, but Lansdown finished the game under pressure,  Big Matt moved back again for the last quarter and was again the hero clearing off the line in the last few minutes, with Dinny and Big Bob they saw us through for a point, a fair result in the end.
