The 2009/10 season is nearly upon us! With this in mind I would like you to put TUESDAY 8th SEPTEMBER in your diaries as the first evening at Bournside School for our Winter Training…. (hopefully it won’t quite feel like winter at this point!)

At the August Committee Meeting the structure for the training sessions will be being put into place. There are many items to be discussed around this issue and we will ensure that we take all aspects into consideration to come up with the best solutions that we can. With this in mind if you would like put forward any positive solutions to any problems that you feel lie with the training structure could you please email me on lhchockey@live.co.uk before Tuesday 4th August so that I can take these to the table.

I will be posting the training structure here on the website after the meeting.

Dear all,
We will be entering at least 1 team into the Gloucester Summer League again this year. I believe that it will follow the same format as last year, where it will start with mixed teams for the first part of the summer and then move into ladies and mens teams. I am assuming that the matches will be on Tues and Weds evenings but we will not be sure of this until we receive further information.
If you are interested in taking part please could you contact Jon Thompson on jt243 at fsmail.net or 07793 681046.

To all players,

Please could YOU contact your captain or coach to find out weather training will be on on each Tuesday.

Obviously due to the cold weather conditions the decision will be made on the day and depend on the pitch condition more than anything else.

Any problems contacting someone to find out you can also call me on 07855 320414 (if I can’t answer I will get back to you as soon as possible)

Thanks

Ladies 3rd XI 0 Cheltenham 3rd XI 3 Monday, November 10, 2008

This week saw the new look 3rd team host an established Cheltenham side. Cheltenham exerted pressure on the Lansdown defence from the whistle but nothing was getting passed the tight marking and strong defence lead by joint man of the match Kerry Harrell & goalkeeper Sophie Baldwin. Lansdown made some positive attacks up both wings with Liddy Ellis distributing the ball well through the midfield linking up with fellow midfielder Nicola Beattie, Emma Krick and Anna Bruckland. However, just before half time Cheltenham broke through and scored. Players went into half time knowing they had played well, and held there own.

Lansdown started the second half with more attack, pressurising the Cheltenham goal with Gabbi Francis going through on goal only to have the ball ( and herself) taken out by the keeper!!! The defence kept absorbing the pressure but even Sophie could not keep out two really good shots of goal. Spirits were high at the end of the game and hopefully this will be taken through to the next game where Lansdown 3’s face St Gregs away.

Lansdown Ladies 3rd IX versus Bourton Vale Ladies 1st IX Friday, October 24, 2008

Saturday 18th October, Kingham Hill School

Lost 2-0

The Lansdown Ladies 3rd IX travelled to Kingham Hill school in search of their first league points of the season. A shaky start from the Lansdown defence saw a Bourton player slot the ball into the goal within the first 5 minutes.

However man of the match Karen Holdaway pulled the defence together and Lansdown began to improve their play. Hannah Milsom led a number of attacks through the midfield and a great attacking play from Hannah Drew and George Wintle saw them nearly break through the Bourton defence. At half time Lansdown were 1-0 down and the game was still within their grasp.

It looked like the Lansdown ladies 3rd IX luck was changing in the second half. The team came out confident and continued to pressurise with some attacking plays. Lansdown almost equalized when a ball sent through to debutant Charly Byatt went merely inches outside the goal post.

Bourton soon released a number of counter attacks and a strike from the top of the Dee took them 2-0 in front. The Lansdown side continued to pressurise the Bourton defence and the play was much improved from previous weeks, with a number of younger players making their debut in the 3rd team but Bourton managed to hold onto their 2-0 victory.

Lansdown 3rd IX play Shipton Olliffe next weekend a team they have played frequently in the past and the ladies will be hoping to pick up some points at St Edwards School at 11.00am.
