After last week’s three points Lansdown rose from 8th in the league to 3rd and needed another three points this week to secure that position.  In what was a tight, closely fought game Lansdown played some better hockey than the previous week but still struggled to convert possession and pressure into goals.  The breakthrough came in the second half with Alice Vigor crossing the ball across goal from the right, Lansdown pressure in the circle resulting in a Gloucester own goal.  Kim Pullen caused Gloucester a great deal of trouble in midfield as did the strong running from Helen Wicks.  But Lansdown couldn’t build on their lead, this led to a tense final ten minutes with Gloucester desperately trying to get an equaliser.  However Lansdown defence held tight, continuing their fantastic record this season and keeping another clean sheet.  Excellent performances from Hannah Leathart, Julia Smith, Kelly Conibere and captain Julie Stowe showed why Lansdown have the best defence in the league.  Lansdown face 5th placed Cheltenham at home next week, and hope to continue their winning run.
