The ladies 1’s continued their unbeaten run with a 1-0 win away at Gloucester. Gloucester came out all guns blazing but didn’t really test the Lansdown defence and the defenders of the earth – all back in action this week – held firm. We created a number of chances in the first half – Nina Emery, Ammo Randle, Kim Pullon and Helen Wicks all testing the Gloucester keeper but the half ended 0-0. Lansdown took more control of the game in the second half and continued to create chances and were finally rewarded when a good move down the right between Nina and Ammo saw Kim slot the ball home from close range. Lansdown almost made it 2-0 when Kim and Becky Mawby played a neat one/two in the Gloucester circle but the resulting shot from Kim went narrowly wide. Gloucester never looked like scoring and keeper Kels didn’t touch the ball once which just shows how well the 10 players in-front of her played to keep Gloucester out. Next weeks game is away to ISCA in Exeter and then we have our last two games of the season at home.
