It was an impressive win by the ladies 1’s against an energetic Exe side and means Lansdown still remain unbeaten this season. Lansdown pressed from the whistle and scored in the opening 2 minutes with Hannah Moon finishing from a Nina Emery cross. Exe appeared a little shell shocked from Lansdown’s early goal and gave away a number of short corners soon after which Lansdown were unable to convert. But the visiters rallied and had a couple of chances of their own, Ammo Randle saving one off the line, Karen Fynn and Julie Stowe making important tackles in the 25 and Keeper Kels doing her job well including saving a one on one with the Exe centre forward. The midfield worked well and the passing of the ball around the team was superb. Lansdown scored their second when Kim Pullen picked up the ball in the Exe half, went round several diving tackles, rode several more in the Exe circle and clinically slotted the ball past the Exe keeper. An excellent piece of advantage play from the umpires and a well deserved goal for Kim. The second half saw the Lansdown midfield and forwards create further opportunities to score, Ammo Randle, Nina Emery and Hannah Moon all going close and Exe made a few chances themselves but another goal line save, Alice Vigor being the hero on this occasion and the defenders of the earth holding firm during a couple of short corners kept the visitors at bay. Lansdown’s final goal was scored with 15 minutes to go by Becky Mawby. Well done everyone on another fab performance. Next Saturday sees an away trip to local rivals Cheltenham which always proves to be a good match so if your free at 11.00am come and watch us play at Balcarras School.
