Lansdown Ladies 2nd XI 1 v Bretforton 3 Wednesday, November 28, 2007

Lansdown Ladies 2nd XI met top of the table Bretforton today – a team who haven’t lost a game yet and who have a staggering goal tally of 34 goals. However, with a little optimism and amazing team spirit as always, Lansdown never looked like the losing team.
The game was played at a fast pace throughout with many breaking runs from both teams. Lansdown looked eager and goal hungry right from the start and were first to convert after a great run by Hayley Whitehouse, a terrific cross from Tash Box and smoothly converted by Susie Francis.
Bretforton were quick to react and quickly pulled one back before half time. (Yes, Negs, that was 1-1 at half time!)
Lansdown were unlucky to convert a number of penalty corners after some great attacking moves from Lisa Nightingale and Sam Hook and Sara Thompson, who slotted into the team again brilliantly, was inches away from scoring a fantastic deflection. We all played very well and worked cohesively together as a team with some great defending from all, especially Kelly Farr, Sally Privett and Hannah Skinner. Angela Varley and Karen Holdaway were their versatile selves as usual and worked hard in a number of positions. Bretforton, however pulled two lucky goals back in the second half to make the score a very undeserving 3-1.
Skipper Negs was very proud of her team’s performance, despite the result and feels her Player of the Match award should go to all.
Lansdown face Colwall next weekend, who are sitting just below them in the league table. Here’s hoping that’s where they’ll stay – Bring it on!!
