A hard fought top of the table clash saw the ladies 1’s take away a point in a game that was spoilt at times by some interesting umpiring. The team pressed the Bath defence from the whistle and had much of the play in the first 15 minutes and were rewarded with a goal after 20 minutes. A surging run down the left from Hannah Moon and a good cross from Kim Pullon saw Becky Mawby deflect the ball into the back of the net. Bath came back strong and gained a couple of short corners, one of which hit the cross bar but the defence of Kelly, Karen, Julia, Alice and Hannah held firm. The half ended 1-0 to Lansdown. The second half saw few chances for Lansdown to make it 2-0. We had a couple of short corners but were unable to convert. Bath pressed for the equaliser and were awarded in excess of 12 short corners – some valid and some….well who knows why they were given, but that didn’t deter the defenders and some outstanding saves from Kelly and several goal line clearances by Hannah kept Bath out. Bath finally got their equaliser with a penalty stroke after Nina stopped the ball on the line with her foot. There was nothing she could do. The last 10 minutes were tough and the ladies showed their maturity on the pitch and carved out a good draw against 12 players.
