Ladies 1’s 6 – ISCA 2 Sunday, November 11, 2007Posted by becky in Cheltenham Hockey, Field Hockey, Ladies 1st XI, Match Report.
Another excellent performance by the ladies 1’s saw their unbeaten home record continue as they notched up 6 goals against Exeter side ISCA. The game started with ISCA having the early shots on goal and Julia Smith made an excellent save off the goal line within the first 10 minutes. But the team soon found their rythm and scored two quick goals, Nina Emery bagging both. ISCA went down to 10 players after a yellow card was given so Lansdown piled on the pressure and were rewarded with a penalty stroke. Stowey stepped up to the mark and gladly made it 3-0. ISCA pulled a goal back just before half time. The second half continued as the first with Lansdown playing some great hockey and looking dangerous on the attack. The fourth goal soon came and was converted from a short corner – Hannah Leathart finding the back of the net. Lansdown then went down to 10 players – Julia was shown a yellow card and ISCA had a couple of breaks and managed to squeeze another goal past the trusty Lansdown defence to make it 4-2, but the girls came back hard and finished the game off with a drag flick short corner from Stowey and a solo run by Kim Pullon. Well done everyone – a great result. The ladies remain joint top with Bath Buccs who they play in two weeks time. Next week is an away fixture in Bristol against Clifton.
