Despite the scoreline Lansdown played well and worked hard, with particularly good performances from Dan Caudle and Dave Hewitt-Stubbs.  The uni lads were particularly well organised, very fit and very youthful! We found ourselves 5 -0 down at half-time with four of the goals coming from short corners, with a very well drilled routine Lansdown had no answer to the slip moves. Paul Williams put his body on the line several times, conceding a penalty flick and denied further goals with some brave defending. A lesser team would have capitulated but Lansdown never gave up and pulled a goal back early in the second half through a Pete Holdaway strike. The defence of Paul Williams, Tim Postlethwaite, Mark Evetts and Dan Caudle marked and tackled well to frustrate the opposition. Niall Hyndman made some great stops in goal but could not deny them a further three second half goals. Lansdown’s second goal came from an Ian Matthews short corner strike. Mark Williams created several scoring opportunities linking well with forwards Chris Hooper and Pete Holdaway but we could not find the finish. A valliant second half performance but on the day comprehensively beaten by a better team.
