The ladies 1’s gave a good performance to earn themselves a point on their away game against Exe 2’s. Exe opened the scoring midway through the first half when they were awarded a penalty stroke after a missed timed tackle from one of the ‘defenders of the earth’! We re-grouped and pushed for the equaliser and gained several short corners, one of which was saved off the line by a leg but the umpires didn’t see it. The equaliser came just on the stroke of half time. Deb Lamper made a bursting run into the D and rounded the keeper to strike the ball home only to see it hit the post but Ammo was on hand to collect it and slot it home. The second half saw both sides have chances – Sian, Becky, Nina and Ammo all going close. Gill Russ and Hannah Lloyd made some excellent runs down the wings and the ‘defenders of the earth’ kept it together at the back with some fine tackles from Stowey, Julia, Karen and Hannah. Kelly was also on good form and made some good saves to keep the Exe strikers at bay. All in all it was a good result against the Devon girls. This weekend sees us play local rivals Cheltenham at home – 2pm Bournside. Supporters would be very welcome.
