The ladies 1st XI won their first home game of the new season with a 3-2 win over Redland. Redland took an early lead when they converted their only short corner of the game but Lansdown were soon on level terms with Helen Wicks finishing from close range following a fine run by Kim Pullon. Lansdown continued to press for their second goal and were duly rewarded when Nina Powell slipped the ball to Becky Mawby who had just the keeper to beat and neatly placed the ball through the keepers legs. The half ended 2-1 to Lansdown. The second half continued as the first with Lansdown pressing the Redland defence to put the game beyond their reach but Redland stuck at their game and hit the Lansdown defence on the break on several occasions. Defenders Karen Fynn, Julia Smith, Hannah Leathart and Julie Stowe all made some excellent tackles and goalkeeper Kelly Bowden made some fine saves to keep Redland at bay. However with 12 minutes to go and against the run of play, Redland equalised. But the Lansdown girls rallied and pressed for the winner and were awarded several short corners. Julie Stowe had a drag flick saved off the line and Helen Wicks also went close to getting her second but it was a cool straight strike from Nina Powell that gave us the win and the 3 points. Well done team and thanks to everyone for supporting us on the sideline.
