trackback

After a long and tiring trek down to the Somerset hills of Mendip, we started the game well having at least 80% of the possession of play in the first half with Hayley Whitehouse and Angela Varley scoring our goals, one from a very smooth short corner, thanks to Susie Francis’ dinky touch!
We played the ball around the pitch well with Gill Russ being a vital distributor in midfield, working well with Lisa Nightingale and Sam Hook who made some storming runs up the right side of the pitch. We had many opportunities but were just unlucky and were denied another goal. By half time we were at 2-2 due to a lucky break and a nicely taken penalty corner by Mendip. This would’ve been more but Carly Williams made a couple of vital saves. Although we still retained the majority of play in the second half, Mendip managed to slyly squeeze another one past us but good effort to all and bring on the Home game after Christmas! Angela Varley was playing out of position but made some great tackles and received Player of the Match, deservedly.
