Lansdown seconds got off to a winning start under new captain Niall Handyman winning 1 -0 away at Llanishen & Caerphilly. Lansdown put out a very experienced side and their superior team work came through against a more youthful team. Lansdown created more scoring opportunities with Pete Holdaway & Chris Hooper linking well up front . The goal came mid way through the first half when Holdaway’s pass found Ian Matthews at the top of the circle and his powerful strike found the bottom corner of the goal, without the keeper moving. Lansdown nullified a talented midfield with
particularly  Matthews putting in some ferocious tackles. Lansdown should have scored a second before they began to tire in the last quarter but their defence of Mark Evetts, Sid Ellis, Tim Postlethwaite & Paul Williams marked tightly and tackled hard to keep the opposition out. Handyman marshalled his defence well and made several vital saves from short corner strikes for Lansdown to hold out for the three points.
