Saturday 24th March

As our penultimate match of the season, in the knowledge that we have already been promoted to Severn Two Division, we went into this match in high spirits. In saying this we had a disappointing start by going 0-1 down in the first 3 minutes. Civil Service had caught us sleeping and we were to regret this. Having woken ourselves up we began to gain our composure, working together to build the attack to regain control of the match. After a few missed chances, Sara Thompson managed to draw the score level with a goal from a rebounded shot. The game began to settle with both sides working hard. We pulled ahead with a superb strike from Tash Box and went into the half time talk with our heads up. Civil Service were strong in the break and we knew that we now had to prevent this from happening. The second half started well with our defence working together but an unfortunate penalty corner decision gave CS an opportunity – this led to a Penalty Flick. Even with a valiant effort from goal keeper Fiona Mitchell they equalled the score line once again. The last 10 minutes of the game became fraught as we tried to fight back but CS managed to catch us with a break once again and brought us to a 2-3 scoreline. A disappointing way to almost finish the end of the season but at least it does not influence our promotion. One more match to go v East Glos on Tues 3rd April, 7.00pm at St Benedict’s pitch. All support truely welcome and we shall hopefully be celebrating afterwards!!

Man of the Match went to Fiona Mitchell

Squad List: Fiona Mitchell, SAMAS, Elaine Higgins, Hannah McLeod, Maxine Reeves, Justine Segar, Hannah Milsom, Sara Thompson, Kelly Farr, Jane Tilley, Amy Ewing, Tash Box.
