Saturday 17th March

We travelled to Wootton Bassett in the knowledge that a win would secure our promotion hopes. A strong squad was available this week so hopes were high. We started well, applying all of the pressure and holding the game in Wootton’s half. The first 15 minutes brought many unsuccessful chances but a final breakthrough came from a deflected penalty corner scored by Sara Thompson. Wootton were able to make the odd break but our defence, in particular Samas Angelo-Sparling, was able to clear these attempts easily. The second goal came from Amy Ewing after a superb manouver by the midfield and forwards. The second half brought more opportunities but Wootton’s defence fought hard to keep us out. The final goal, struck by Sara Thompson, went in the bottom left hand corner and we knew that we had done it!

Thank you to the squad and all that have supported us so far. We are now hoping to win our last two matches to secure the top spot and guarantee the League Trophy. Man of the Match went to Sara Thompson.

Squad List: Fiona Mitchell (GK), Samas Angelo-Sparling (Sweeper), Elaine Higgins (RB), Kelly Farr (CB), Maxine Reeves (LB), Jane Tilley (RM), Sara Thompson (CM), Angela Varley (LM), Jessica Aldridge (F), Natasha Box (F), Amy Ewing (F), Georgina Wintle (F)
