We continued our quest for promotion by winning a hard-fought battle with Stroud 2nds. Stroud were determined to knock us off of the top of the table and brought the game to us in the initial quarter. We responded by taking advantage of the lack of marking from Stroud, particularly with a sublime shot on goal by Sara Thompson unfortunately skimming a Stroud defenders hairband which kept it out of the top corner. The first goal came from a superb cross by Jane Tilley on the right wing with Amy Ewing picking it up and putting it in the back of the net. A lapse in concentration from us at the end of the first half was soon rectified in the second half with the second goal coming off a short corner – injected by Kelly Farr, stopped by Jane Tilley, struck to the left post by Sara Thompson and sweetly touched in by Kelly Farr. Stroud managed to pull a goal back but never looked to be capable of equalising.

Long may our reign continue! :o)

Thanks to Jon Thompson and Andy Allen for umpiring.
