trackback

The seconds went down 3 – 1 to a very strong and youthful side containing at least one international! suposedly. We started slowly as the medics kept possession well and stretched the play constantly. We defended stoutly with Mark Evetts,Sid Ellis & Tim Postlethwaite marking tightly and tackling strongly but the pressure eventually told. We did threaten on the counter attack but Jon & Andy lacked their usual lethal finishing and our short corner routine failed to click. However having gone 3 – 0 down at half time we did not let our heads drop and fought back well. Ian Matthews converted a short corner mid way through the half and the final quarter saw us dominate play. We kept possession well with Dave Holdaway and James Mears linking  in midfield to keep the forward line well supplied. Ian Matthews & Rich Fear combined well down the right and Jon and Andy threatened up front. We forced several short corners but could not find the back of the net. We showed we do have the ability to compete at the top of the league, next week we need to start how we finished. The Medics now go second and we drop to fifth. Many thanks to Carolyn and Bob for umpiring.
