Lansdown 1st XI v Cheltenham (Saturday 25 Nov) Sunday, November 26, 2006Posted by becky in Cheltenham Hockey, Field Hockey, Ladies 1st XI, Match Report.
The ladies 1st XI continued their winning form with an emphatic 3 – 0 win over local rivals Cheltenham. Lansdown put the pressure on from the whistle and made Cheltenham play in their own half for much of the first 20 minutes. They were rewarded with a short corner mid way through the first half and Nina Powell slotted the ball into the bottom left corner. Cheltenham rallied and had a couple of shots but good defending by Ammo, Alice, Karen and Stowey kept Cheltenham at bay. Unfortunately Tash received a blow to the hand towards the end of the half and x-rays show she has fractured her hand. We hope you get better soon Tash. Towards the end of the first half Cheltenham were awarded a couple of short corners but keeper Kels made a couple of good saves.
The second half continued as the first with Lansdown piling on the pressure and the second goal came from another well worked short corner with Lloydy finding the back of the net. Cheltenham had several breaks and were awarded with a couple more short corners but the defence held strong and kept them out. The final Lansdown goal came from a great individual run by Nina Powell, who calmly slotted the ball into the bottom left corner. The 1st XI are at home this coming Saturday against Redland so if your free come and cheer us on.
