trackback

Lansdown men’s 2nd team travelled to local rivals Stroud. The game started at a quick pace, with Lansdown attacking and soon scoring through Andy Allen. Stroud responded with two quick goals. Lansdown were guilty of giving the ball away too cheaply.

The Lansdown midfield worked hard, with Mark Williams making good overlapping runs down the right and Dave Holdaways tireless running causing Stroud problems. Lansdown’s problems got worse when Pete Holdaway went off injured and Stroud scored again.
3-1 down, but we did not panic and after some good work through Ian Mathews and Jon Thompson, the ball fell to Andy Allen who made no mistake from the top of the circle. So at half time it was 3-2.

The second half started with Lansdown dominating. Stroud tried to break quickly, but were thwarted by great defending from Mark Evetts, Sid Ellis, Rich Fear and T.P and Ace Cupper in goal. After good work from James Mears and Jon Thompson Lansdown won a short corner. A well worked routine was finished by Andy Allen getting his
hat-trick. The same move was used again five minutes later, with exactly the same
result.

Andy Allen had a chance to score his fifth goal, but his penalty stroke was
well saved.

Final score: Stroud 3 Lansdown 4 and top of the table with a 100% record.

Cheers,

Andy Allen
Mens 2nd XI Captain.
