The ladies 1’s continued their unbeaten record with a solid 2-0 win over Clifton. From the start the team pressed the Clifton defence and were unfortunate not to score in the first 3 minutes. The first goal came after 12 minutes when Hannah Moon made a strong run into the circle. The Clifton keeper made an initial save but after a bit of a scramble Ann-Marie Randle took control of the ball and neatly flicked it over the keeper and into the roof of the net. Clifton pushed for an equaliser but the defence of Kelly, Karen, Julia, Hannah and Stowey held firm. The game became rather scrappy and chances were limited as it became a battle of the midfields.
The second half opened up a little and we created more goal scoring opportunities - Nina, Helen and Hannah Moon all going close. The second goal came in the 50th minute. A free hit on the edge of the cirlce saw a quick pass from Nina to Hannah Leathart who pushed the ball home. Clifton tried to respond and had a couple of chances late in the game but some good keeping by Kelly kept them out. Another good win and 3 points in the bag in a ‘not pretty’ game. well done team. Next weeks game is a top of the table clash against Bath Buccs in Bath.
